The Moscow — St. Petersburg railway is now fully equipped with the internet. Operators have installed hundreds of base stations along the route.
Signal amplifiers and transmitter modules have been installed on Sapsan trains. This allows maintaining a stable voice connection on 99% of the route.
Passengers can easily watch videos without delays or freezes. The signal is stable even at a speed of 250 km/h.
There are currently over 120,000 km of railways in Russia, some of which remain without stable communication. In May 2024, Russian Railways signed an agreement with "BUREAU 1440". It involved the creation of a universal terminal to provide satellite communications for freight and high-speed trains, as well as long-distance trains.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian Railways will implement AI to manage tariffs and train compositions.
