The serial Lada Iskra, which production started on April 19, turned out to be simpler than expected. Insiders revealed unexpected details that bloggers did not pay attention to.
Some small but familiar elements were removed from the car - ceiling handles for passengers and plastic covers on the sills. These details were originally provided for in the XJO project, but in the serial version they are not even in the top trim levels.
The handles were planned to be purchased from a Chelyabinsk supplier, but he lost access to imported raw materials back in 2022 and refused the contract. Replacement options were considered, but in the end, according to insiders, "they decided not to bother and removed the handles altogether for good measure."
Instead of the missing covers, the carpet now simply goes under the door seal - this is also a way to reduce the cost.
The start of sales of Lada Iskra cars is scheduled for July 20. The basic version of the sedan with a 90-horsepower engine and a 5-speed manual transmission will cost about 1.2 million rubles.
