A working copying reproduction photo unit S-64 "Fir" has appeared on sale in Moscow. The device was designed at NIL-11 in the early 1950s for the needs of the KGB. It allows you to shoot documents.
The "Fir" worked from an alternating current network with different voltages (even from an on-board 12-volt car network).
Easy to use, it provided quite good negatives. Thanks to the hinged design, the device was easily folded and, when not in use, took up little space, completely fitting inside the base, which served as a subject table during reproduction. The kit included two lamps for shadowless illumination of the document.
People often called the device the "devil suitcase", although it is compact in size. When folded, the photo unit is no larger than a book.
Technical characteristics of the S-64 reproduction unit:
- Lens "Industar" - 5.6/30, removable, aperture to f/22.
- Negative size - 18x24 mm.
- Cassette capacity - 400 frames.
- Supply voltage - 220 and 127 V, 12 V.
- Size of the original to be shot - 89x64, 159x121, 242x178, 318x242.
- Dimensions when folded - 375 x 265 x 75 mm.
- Weight - no more than 5 kg.
- Lamps - 127 V and 12 V.
- Focusing distance - from 10 to 40 cm.
