The car is built on the platform of the Chinese JAC T9 pickup, which shares an architecture with the Toyota Hilux and Land Cruiser. Mass production will begin at the UAZ facilities in late 2025. Sales will start in the first quarter of 2026.

The front of the new car repeats the design of the JAC T9, but the rear has a unique design. The interior is adapted to the preferences of Russian buyers, and the engine is tuned to run on low-octane gasoline. Mikhail Guryanov, Head of Product Development Center at Sollers, noted that the SUV will become the flagship of the body-on-frame car lineup.

A new assembly line has already been prepared at the Ulyanovsk plant. The first to be produced in June-July 2024 will be the Sollers ST9 and JAC T9 pickups. Later, SUVs under both brands will be added to them.

The partnership with JAC allowed the use of a ready-made platform, reducing development time. Sollers emphasized that UAZ is strengthening its position as a key manufacturer of body-on-frame cars for the Russian market. The new product is expected to occupy a niche between budget and premium models.
