AvtoVAZ will begin mass production of the new Lada Iskra model on April 19. The base model will feature a 90-horsepower 8-valve 1.6 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. A 16-valve engine of the same volume with 106 hp will also be available, paired with a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission.
Iskra is based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-B-LS platform, and in the Lada model range, the new model will take a place between Vesta and Granta. According to preliminary estimates, the price of the basic version of the Lada Iskra sedan is about 1.2 million rubles.
Three body types have been developed for the Lada Iskra – sedan, station wagon, and Cross station wagon.
On the first day of production, they plan to assemble only 59 cars for exhibition samples. "Live" cars should appear in showrooms in late June or early July.
