Russian S-300 SAM systems spotted at army day parade in Iran

The systems can strike targets moving at a speed of 1300-2800 m/s

Iranian armed forces held a parade in honor of Army Day, showcasing Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) in national camouflage. This was reported by the state agency SNN.

Also among the presented equipment are Sayyad-3 anti-aircraft systems and Fateh-360 medium-range missiles, Valfajr self-guided torpedoes, and Majid air defense systems.

About the S-300 SAM system

The anti-aircraft missile systems were developed by specialists at NPO Almaz. From 1967 to 2005, more than 10 different modifications of the S-300 were produced. Depending on the version, the range of target engagement varies within 5-150 km. At the same time, the systems can strike targets moving at a speed of 1300-2800 m/s.

The S-300 air defense system consists of a command post with a radar detection station (radar), to which up to six anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) are connected. The command post serves for automated distribution of targets between SAMs. The system automatically performs detection, tracking, designation and acquisition of targets, missile guidance and evaluation of firing results.
