Self-driving cars may appear on public roads by 2027. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport. Representatives of the ministry noted that tests of driverless trucks have been successfully completed, but for the full-fledged introduction of self-driving cars on the roads, it is necessary to refine the technologies and agree on new rules.
A key element in this process will be a roadmap being developed on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev. The document will define a plan of measures to create uniform rules and a common infrastructure for the safe use of autonomous transport.
The development of unmanned traffic was discussed at a recent meeting of the working group at the Ministry of Transport. The event was attended by experts from the Ministry of Economic Development, the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as representatives of business. The main goal of the group is to create a regulatory framework for the successful scaling of the unmanned transport project.
