Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ) celebrates the 67th anniversary of its foundation on April 17, 2025.
The enterprise is located in the city of Zavolzhye, Nizhny Novgorod Region. It was founded in 1958 to produce internal combustion engines.
The plant began its operations as a branch of the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ), supplying engines for GAZ-21 "Volga" cars. The first ZMZ-21A engine was created in 1959. Over time, the product range expanded. ZMZ began producing engines for UAZ, PAZ, and other automakers.
In 2023, the plant resumed production of ZMZ V8 engines (ZMZ-523 and ZMZ-524). Throughout its long history, the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant has produced more than 15 million engines.
