The Belarusian car factory Belgee intends to actively develop the direction of hybrid and electric vehicles, striving to take second place in the Russian car market. This was announced by the General Director of the enterprise, Gennady Svidersky.
The company is preparing to start assembling Geely Galaxy E5 electric vehicles and a hybrid model based on the Chinese brand in 2025. To do this, the factory will have to modernize its production lines, as the assembly technology for electric vehicles differs from that of cars with internal combustion engines.
Svidersky emphasized that the growing interest in environmentally friendly transport makes this step particularly relevant: Belarus has a good road network, a compact territory, and a developed infrastructure of charging stations, which creates favorable conditions for the spread of electric vehicles.
In September 2024, it became known about Belgee's plans to start producing the Geely Galaxy EX5 crossover in the second half of 2025. However, plans to produce hybrid models were announced for the first time. The company hopes that by expanding the model range with modern energy-efficient vehicles, it will be able to strengthen its position in the market.
