AvtoVAZ announced the start of mass production of Lada e-Largus electric vehicles on September 25, 2024, at the Izhevsk plant. The first batch was supposed to be 500 cars, but it still hasn't rolled off the assembly line.
The car turned out to be expensive, and now VAZ's task is not to chase pieces, but to try to reduce the cost. The basic direction of optimization is to remove the battery from the engine compartment, leaving only one in place of the gas tank, but increasing its capacity.
Recently, the company conducted a series of successful crash tests. But they are not planning to assemble a new batch of cars, because Lada e-Largus still needs minor finishing operations.
They say that 64 kWh can actually be placed in this volume, which is even more than the current 61 kWh. Yes, most likely, none of these 500 will be sold at retail: the batch is made for specific customers.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the new Lada e-Largus will receive more than 50% of domestically produced parts.
