Russian Armed Forces personnel have begun using a new reconnaissance device that analyzes sound waves from enemy artillery fire, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Servicemen of the self-propelled artillery regiment of the Kantemirovskaya division of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the "West" group of troops have mastered a new sound-measuring device for artillery reconnaissance.
The device analyzes incoming sound waves from howitzer and mortar fire located at a distance of 15 km, then provides enemy coordinates. The data is sent to UAV teams.
After confirmation, information about the target location is transmitted to the artillerymen. The accuracy of determining enemy positions reaches 100-150 m. This method of counter-battery combat is fast and effective, the Ministry of Defense of Russia concluded.
