Сердце из керамики: искусственный орган создадут в ИТПМ СО РАН

Energy to the heart is planned to be supplied through the skin using wireless technology

The Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITAM) SB RAS plans to develop an artificial heart based on ceramic material. This was announced by the acting director of the institute, Evgeny Kraus.

We are talking about the fact that (the artificial heart) can raise the human body temperature by no more than 0.2 degrees. Special magnetic suspensions are used so that the axis does not increase the temperature as a result of blood movement during rotation.
Evgeny Kraus, acting director of ITAM SB RAS

Imported analogues of the left ventricle of the heart already exist in the world, which are implanted in patients, but they are available only to a limited number of people due to the high cost. The developers intend to increase the durability, improve biocompatibility with the human body, and increase the energy efficiency of the artificial organ. It is also planned to introduce wireless power transmission technology to the heart through the skin.

Kraus added that scientists have already prepared drawings and numerical calculations. Ceramics were chosen as the material for the manufacture of the organ, as it will avoid overheating of the engine inside the device.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian scientists came up with a way to preserve artificial organs without losing their properties.
