The Il-76MD military transport aircraft took off from the "Machulishchy" airfield with a rescue team on board to assist in the aftermath of the earthquake. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.
The first flight to Myanmar was carried out by the Ministry of Emergency Situations "Zubr" detachment (66 rescuers, 4 search dogs) and 4 units of special equipment. Subsequent flights will be with humanitarian aid. The flight will take about 12 hours.
The flight is now departing to Novosibirsk, where refueling and customs procedures will take place. Then the flight directly to the capital of Myanmar.
An earthquake occurred in Myanmar on March 28. As a result of tremors with a magnitude of 7.7, more than 1,600 people died.
Il-76MD characteristics: wingspan - 50.5 m, aircraft length - 46.5 m, aircraft height - 14.7 m, engine type - 4 D-30KP turbofan engines, maximum speed - 850 km/h, range with a 47-ton cargo - 4200 km.
