Connecting to free Wi-Fi networks and using public charging devices can lead to mobile devices being infected with malware capable of stealing personal data, logins, passwords and payment information. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The use of free open Wi-Fi networks and public charging stations is associated with the risk of mobile devices being infected with malicious software. Such software can not only steal personal data, logins, passwords, payment information and personal files, but also slow down the device or even completely block it.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends refraining from entering passwords, payment data and other confidential information when connecting to public Wi-Fi. They also advise avoiding the use of banking applications and the transmission of documents over such networks.
