Four weeks before the start of mass production of Lada Iskra, scheduled for April 19, the "Motor" publication studied a prototype of the new product.
AvtoVAZ confirmed that the prototype fully corresponds to future production cars, and the appearance will not undergo any modifications. The first sedans will arrive at dealerships in early June, followed by station wagons (July) and cross-versions (August). The full range of modifications will be available by autumn.
One of the key parameters was ground clearance. The declared 170 mm was confirmed by measurements: under the engine protection, the clearance is 16–17 cm. The front arches are completely covered with plastic linings and mudguards, and solid felt wheel arch liners are installed inside. However, the rear arches are less protected: there is a recess in front of the wheels where snow or ice can accumulate, and only the area behind the wheel is closed. The wheel arch liners are made of soft fleecy material and are attached with clips. The rear bumper has a protrusion so that the wheels do not extend beyond the dimensions of the body.
Lada Iskra's lighting technology combines simplicity and unusual solutions. The rear lights are completely halogen, and LEDs are used only for daytime running lights and turn signals in the front. At the same time, the complex shape of the headlights and taillights can make them expensive to replace. In the basic configuration, all cars will receive a tire pressure monitoring system (iTPMS), which was not previously typical for AvtoVAZ models.
Iskra will receive an electronic stabilization system (ESC) from Itelma, which will be supplemented by a tire pressure monitoring system (iTPMS)
The starting price of Lada Iskra will be 1.2–1.3 million rubles. Production will begin on April 19, and dealers will receive the first batches by the end of May.
