KMZ Upgrades M756B-2 Engine for Belarusian Railway Trains

The engine will be installed on Soviet DR1 trains

The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ), a military-industrial holding, has received an order from Belarusian Railways to modernize the M756B-2 diesel engine of the DR1P passenger train, the holding's press service reported.

KMZ specialists have previously mastered the full cycle of production of the M756B-1D engine and components. By order of the Belarusian enterprise, they will equip the M756B-2 with an electronic speed controller.

The M756 diesel engine was installed on the Soviet serial train DR1. It carried out suburban passenger transportation. The train was assembled from 1963 to 1970 at the Riga Carriage Works.

Engine characteristics M756: layout — V-shaped, cycle — four-stroke, number of cylinders — 12, rated power — 1000 hp, turbocharging — yes, weight — 1800 kg.
