The Yandex team has introduced a new update to its "Yandex Go" application. It now features a virtual queue for users of the "Economy" tariff. The function is designed to improve the process of calling a taxi during times of increased demand, such as after concerts or sporting events.
As the company explained, in situations where the number of people wanting to use a taxi significantly exceeds the available cars, a virtual queue will be automatically formed. Priority will be given to those who ordered a taxi earlier.
Users will be able to track their place in the queue in real time and see how it moves. During testing in major cities, the number of orders in the queue at mass events reached over 100. On average, the waiting time for a car assignment was from 3 to 10 minutes.
In cases where demand exceeds the number of available drivers, and the event location is far from public transport, the waiting time may increase, the developers emphasize.
