The Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has launched a "machine vision" system (computer vision for industry). Video cameras are installed in rooms at power units with RBMK-1000 reactors (High Power Channel-type Reactor) and VVER-1200 (Water-Water Energetic Reactor). This was reported by the press service of Rosatom.
At the first stage, 90 cameras were connected to the system. They allow real-time monitoring of almost 45 rooms with 6 kV and 10 kV electrical installations - where there is a risk of exposure to electric current.
The corporation's press service added that another 35 video analytics cameras will be connected to the system by the end of 2025. "Machine vision" will also be implemented at the under-construction power units No. 7 and 8.
The Leningrad NPP (near Sosnovy Bor) was commissioned in 1978. Currently, 4 power units are operating at the site, and 2 more have been shut down.
