In the design of aircraft engines for airplanes, blades are one of the most important parts. We are talking about compressor blades, turbines, fans and propeller blades, explained the United Engine Corporation (UEC).
Blades are divided into two types: impellers and driving blades. An oar is a striking example of an impeller blade: force is applied to it through a lever, and it pushes the flow - for example, water.
A sail, a windmill or watermill wing are driving blades. The force of the air or water flow acts on their surface, driving what the blades are attached to. The aircraft engine blade is one of the main parts and one of the most complex to manufacture.
Different types of blades operate simultaneously in aircraft engines. These are impeller blades in the fan and compressor, and driving blades in the turbine, and there are also fixed guide blades.
The corporation added that a blade and a vane are not the same thing. A blade is a short vane, the width of which is at least a quarter of its length.
