Since the beginning of February 2025, demand for bicycles, scooters, and roller skates has sharply increased in Russia. According to the analytical service "Check Index," retail sales of these goods have increased by 39-56% compared to last year.
The reasons for this growth are both the abnormally warm weather and active promotions by sports retailers. The fact is that sellers faced a drop in sales and began to offer significant discounts.
In particular, bicycle sales in one of the retail chains increased by 113%, and scooter sales tripled. The average price of bicycles reached 19.5 thousand rubles, which is 14% more than last year.
Marketplace representatives note an increase in interest in spring and summer equipment: on Wildberries, from the beginning of January this year to February 20, bicycle sales increased by 55%, and scooter sales by 60%.
The overall growth of online sales of sporting goods in 2024 amounted to 30%, reaching 259 billion rubles. This is noted by experts.
