In the second half of 2025, the share of domestic brands in the Russian car market may reach 40%. In January, domestic manufacturers expanded their model range from 12 to 20, according to a study conducted by Gazprombank Autoleasing.
Overall, in January, domestic "surnames" increased their market share from 31% to 36% and increased the number of models from 12 to 20. At the same time, in the second half of the year, there are many prerequisites for the share of Russian brands to approach 40%.
In January 2025, 27.6 thousand Lada cars were registered, which is almost 5 thousand more than a year earlier. Among all Lada models, only Niva Travel (-6%) and Niva Legend (-18%) showed a decrease in dynamics.
Lada Granta demonstrated a result of 11.4 thousand cars, which is 10% more than in January 2024. Also, sedans and Vesta station wagons (8 thousand cars) were chosen 1.5 times more often.
The largest increase in sales (almost 30 times) compared to last year was shown by Largus in the station wagon body — 2.2 thousand cars.
In January, sales of "Moskvich" cars increased by 13% and amounted to 1.4 thousand units. Of these, almost 1.2 thousand transactions were for the "Moskvich-3" model, including a modification with an electric motor. The remaining revenue was received from sales of "Moskvich-6" liftbacks.
After the release of the long-awaited versions of "Moskvich-5" and "Moskvich-8" this year, we can expect that monthly sales of the brand will be steadily calculated in thousands of units, the study says. However, the annual plan of the capital's plant is relatively small — only 24 thousand cars.
At the same time, in February — March, one cannot expect such a rapid growth in the share of the Russian segment. There are still too many cars of foreign brands in warehouses that were imported before the increase in the recycling fee.
However, according to the expert, already in the second half of this year, the share of domestic brands may reach 40%. This will be facilitated by an increase in sales of new Lada, Moskvich, Solaris and Evolute models, as well as state support programs for demand, which this year apply exclusively to Russian brands.
