Hypersonic "Oreshnik" may lead to a new strategic balance in the world

A new formula of equilibrium will replace the nuclear missile parity

The presence of the Russian "Oreshnik" medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile (MRBM) complex may become a reason for the formation of a new global structure of military-strategic balance. This opinion was expressed by an expert in the field of military cosmonautics, Evgeny Babichev.

According to him, the very fact that Russia has the "Oreshnik" missile system, due to its new characteristics, is a sufficient reason for the formation of a new structure of military-strategic balance in the world, where a new formula of equilibrium will replace the nuclear missile parity of the Cold War era.

"Oreshnik" is the first domestic MRBM in a non-nuclear version after the R-5 missile, which completed testing in 1955. Due to the non-entry into force of the START-2 treaty, aimed at prohibiting multiple independently targetable warheads, Russia is not violating anything by placing multiple warheads on its missiles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the temperature on the warheads of the "Oreshnik" missiles is comparable to the temperature on the surface of the Sun.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian Navy will receive four more frigates with "Zircon" and "Kalibr" missiles.
