French automaker Renault will have to compensate for investments of at least 112.5 billion rubles, which were directed to the development of AvtoVAZ during the absence of the former shareholder. This was stated by the president of the auto giant, Maxim Sokolov, at a press conference.
The investments exceed the average annual investment volumes that were made by the previous shareholder Renault in the early 20s <…> It is clear that these investments will have to be reimbursed in some way upon return, so the entry price will not be equal to the exit price for one ruble.
According to Sokolov, Renault annually allocated about 20-22 billion rubles for the modernization of AvtoVAZ's facilities. After his departure, the company's investment volumes increased significantly, so in 2023 they amounted to more than 27.5 billion rubles, and in 2024 they reached almost 40 billion rubles. In 2025, it is planned to invest at least 45 billion rubles.
Renault left the Russian market in 2022. All of its assets in the country were nationalized: the shares of the "Renault Russia" plant were transferred to the Moscow authorities, and Renault's share in AvtoVAZ was transferred to the NAMI Institute, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
