AvtoVAZ has started delivering LADA Vesta cars with a new 6-speed manual transmission to official dealers. This was reported by insiders.
At the end of January, the first production copies of this model with a new transmission, developed jointly with the Chinese company WLY (WanLiYang), which previously supplied CVTs for LADA Vesta, rolled off the assembly line. The gearbox is designed for a torque of up to 220 N·m, which exceeds the performance of the 1.8 EVO engine (122 hp and 170 N·m) with which it is aggregated.
Before being launched into mass production, the power unit underwent a full cycle of laboratory and road tests. 50 prototypes were manufactured, which collectively covered more than 300,000 km on test benches and 150,000 km in real conditions.
The new 6-speed manual transmission will be installed on all LADA Vesta body types, including sedan, station wagon and their Cross versions. In the future, this transmission may also appear on other LADA models.
