Not enough docks: fishermen can't repair fishing vessels in Russia

Large-capacity fishing fleet is serviced abroad at double the price

The Far Eastern region is facing a serious shortage of docks for repairs. In the five main ports where the fishing fleet is based - Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Nevelsk and Kholmsk - there are only 15 docks, which does not meet the needs of the industry.

These ports account for 675 vessels and 113 ship repair enterprises, but more than a third of all ship repair capacity is concentrated in Arkhangelsk, where there are 42 plants and eight docks. At the same time, the number of vessels assigned to the Arkhangelsk port is only eight.

Fishermen of the Far East want to repair ships in Russia, but the lack of necessary facilities and the shortage of free berths complicate this process. Almost the entire large-capacity fishing fleet of Russia has to be serviced and repaired abroad. At the same time, the cost of such services has increased by 2-3 times due to sanctions.

Mikhail Burmistrov, head of Infoline-Analitika, emphasizes that the creation of ship repair facilities in the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) is a more promising direction for the development of the industry than the construction of new shipyards. He notes that ship repair is an organic process that is in demand, and the return on investment is faster.

Earlierwww1.ru reported that shipbuilders across the country willuse innovations from the first digital shipyard in the Russian Federation.
