The design of the PD-14 engine has confirmed its operability in icing conditions, that is, at ambient air temperatures below minus 10 degrees Celsius. This was reported by the press service of the United Engine Corporation (UEC).
Rosaviatsia issued the Perm enterprise "UEC-Aviadvigatel" an approval of the main change of the PD-14 aircraft engine.
The UEC noted that reliable engine operation at low temperatures is important for flight safety. Icing can lead to damage to the internal elements of the engine.
The domestic materials and design solutions used in the design of the PD-14 ensure the engine's resistance to external influences, including the ingress of ice fragments.
PD-14 is the first domestic serial engine for medium-range aircraft. The unit will be used on the new MC-21 aircraft.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian PD-14 aircraft engines will be put into production in 2024.
