Mass production of "Tsar-Tents" has begun in Russia. This is a mesh protection for tanks in combat against HEAT projectiles and kamikaze drones. This was announced by Major General Sergei Shalenyi, Deputy Head of the Main Armored Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to him, the protection kit is a further development of the "Tsar-Mangal", which, due to its design, does not so much limit the sector of fire of the gun.
There is quite a positive experience for us here. I think this is also progress for the troops. Such designs for the protection of tanks and armored vehicles have already been developed at the factory. In the coming months, they will be put into production, and the vehicles will be equipped with such protection. The only thing is that it will be a mesh, not a lattice, because the mesh proves to be more effective.
The protection will be in the shape of an umbrella or tent, only larger, covering the hemisphere of the vehicle. It will be mounted on the turret and provide a 360-degree firing sector.
The military man emphasized that when creating such protection, it is necessary to find a balance of characteristics so that the firepower and maintainability of combat vehicles are not affected.
