Scientists Vadim Popkov and Kirill Martinson from St. Petersburg have presented an innovative technology for producing ferrites — compounds of iron oxide with oxides of other transition metals. The developed technology can significantly improve the quality of contrast-enhanced MRI scans.
We have developed a new contrast agent based on ferrites, which allows for much more accurate diagnosis of diseases. This development has no analogues abroad.
He believes that the introduction of the new technology may take several years. The main goal of the development is to meet the country's needs for materials for microwave electronics.
We are proud to have developed a universal tool for science and society.
Senior Researcher at the Ioffe Institute, Kirill Martinson, said that ferrites are used in various fields: in microwave electronics, in antibacterial materials, for wastewater treatment, and even in the production of catalysts.
The developers of the new ferrite production technology were awarded the President of the Russian Federation Prize for young scientists for 2024.
