The Ruselectronics holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will expand the functionality of its ORNI automatic ornithological safety system. The new version can be controlled from a tablet. It is adapted to the new state rules and requirements in the field of aviation.
The complex consists of a subsystem for radar detection and tracking. It is equipped with passive coherent locators that do not interfere with the airport's radio equipment. The system records the number of birds and the direction of their movement in a given area. Deterrents are activated automatically.
Among the new functions of the complex is the automatic analysis of big data, which allows identifying places and events that attract the attention of birds in the vicinity of the airport. The system can now restore events that occurred within a month, which is useful in incident investigations.
In addition to full automation, ORNI provides for manual control of gas and bioacoustic bird scaring devices for emergency response in non-standard situations.
The ORNI complex has been successfully tested at Pulkovo Airport. It has demonstrated high accuracy in detecting birds in all weather conditions. Its use does not affect the operation of ground-based radio equipment for flight support.
