The newest Krona-E anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) from the Kalashnikov concern turned out to be a deeply modernized hybrid of the Sosna and Strela-10M SAM systems with a combat module based on the BTR-82A. The system is equipped with two-stage 9M340 Sosna-R anti-aircraft guided missiles with a maximum speed of 875m/s and a range of 10 km, as well as 9M333 with flight speeds of 570-610 m/s and a range of 5 km, according to military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
The 9M340 missiles are equipped with a semi-automatic laser-beam control system that is immune to optical-electronic interference and the use of infrared (IR) traps. The 9M333 missiles received three-band optoelectronic homing heads (GOS) with photo contrast and jamming sensors.
Target designation for small-sized drones is provided to the operator by a remote small-sized X-band radar complex "Repeinik", capable of detecting a Valkyria-type drone at a distance of up to 5000 m. Two types of SAMs with 4 guidance channels will provide the Krona-E SAM system with noise immunity and adaptability to a complex jamming environment.
Kalashnikov is exhibiting the Krona-E for the first time at the international exhibition of weapons and defense technologies IDEX 2025, which will be held from February 17 to 21 in Abu Dhabi.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that an underwater drone for clearing sea waters has been developed in Russia.
