Specialists of the "Zimititsy" foundry (located in the Leningrad region) of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) have mastered the technology for manufacturing bimetallic liners. This was reported by the company's press service.
Bimetal is a composite material consisting of several layers of metals or their alloys. KMZ has started production of liners from two bimetals based on steel - with bronze and with babbitt.
The production of bimetal takes place in several stages:
- machining of steel blanks
- assembly of blanks into tooling
- cleaning, degreasing, etching, fluxing of blanks
- pouring bronze or babbitt in a centrifugal unit
All equipment and fixtures were designed and manufactured by the employees of the "Zimititsy" foundry.
Bimetallic liners are used to reduce friction between rotating surfaces. They are installed in the components and assemblies of industrial equipment.
