Specialists of SKB-3 (part of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant, KMZ) have developed a new chemical composition of steel for casting Hall anchors weighing 5 tons. This was reported by the press service of the enterprise.
KMZ metallurgical engineers adjusted the previous composition by adding 0.7% titanium to it. This increased the tensile strength by 30% and the ductility by 40%.
The manufactured anchor sample has successfully passed the tests.
The Hall anchor was invented in 1885. Its creator removed the stock from the design. This approach made the anchor retractable and became widespread.
Earlier www1.ru reported that KMZ will manufacture box coolers for cooling systems for inland and sea-going vessels
