Усилили титаном: КМЗ разработал новый стальной сплав для отливки якорей

New steel composition increased anchor strength by 30% and ductility by 40%

Specialists from SKB-3 (part of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant, KMZ) have developed a new chemical composition of steel for casting Hall anchors weighing 5 tons. This was reported by the company's press service.

KMZ metallurgical engineers adjusted the previous composition, adding 0.7% titanium to it. This increased tensile strength by 30% and ductility by 40%.

The manufactured anchor sample successfully passed the tests.

The Hall anchor was invented in 1885. Its creator removed the stock from the design. This approach made the anchor retractable and became widespread.

Earlier www1.ru reported that KMZ will manufacture box coolers for cooling systems for inland and sea-going vessels.
