Construction of the new "Arkhyz" airport in Karachay-Cherkessia will begin in 2026. The project will be implemented by the "Airports of Regions" holding. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
The air harbor will receive a runway measuring 3000x45 meters. The apron will include 10 parking spaces for aircraft.
The facades of the building are clad with elements that visually echo the structure of cones, which makes the architecture organic and memorable. The green roof with a hill that smoothly repeats the silhouette of the foothills of the Caucasus deserves special attention.
The airport will be equipped with a passenger terminal with three jet bridges, four boarding gates and a parking lot for 300 cars. The terminal's capacity is 1,000 passengers per hour. The planned annual passenger traffic five years after the start of the airport's operation is two million people.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2028. Air service will be established in early 2029.
The air harbor will reduce travel time to the popular Arkhyz, Teberda and Dombay ski resorts.
