The volume of mining in Tatarstan is estimated at $100–200 million per year. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development of the Republic, Airat Khairullin.
In his opinion, the reason for the success lies in the large number of specialists in the field of information technology in the region, which allows them to quickly master mining.
Russia ranks second in the world in terms of mining volume, which amounts to $6-7 billion per year. Khairullin noted that the recent government decree banning mining in a number of Russian regions may lead to an increase in the activity of miners in Tatarstan by 10–15%, as the restrictions contribute to the redistribution of power.
The ban on cryptocurrency mining is valid until March 15, 2031 in 10 Russian regions, including Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Caucasus and new territories.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2024, Tatarstan occupies a leading position among the regions of Russia in terms of the number of crimes using information and telecommunication technologies, which indicates a high level of digitalization, as well as the risks associated with it.
Earlier www1.ru reported that "Rosseti" wants to coordinate the placement of mining centers to optimize energy resources.
