Assembly of Jaecoo J7 crossovers has begun at the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg (owned by AGR company). More than a hundred cars have been produced.
Assembly is carried out according to the DKD process. This is a method of manufacturing cars from disassembled or partially assembled car kits. The work is carried out on lifts. The main areas of the AGR plant are not involved. A small space is allocated for assembly. In the same way, Сhery cars are assembled at factories in the Moscow region and Kaluga.
Auto expert Sergei Tsyganov believes that after the launch of "screwdriver" production, local authorities report on the restart of "half-dead" factories, and AGR is trying to "land" Chery in Russia by establishing ties with governors and the central government.
