AvtoVAZ continues to work on creating its own turbocharged engine. This was announced by the head of the company, Maxim Sokolov.
Previously, AvtoVAZ spoke about the existence of a project to create a turbo engine. However, its implementation depends on the market situation.
Last year, the plant reported that there is currently no significant demand for turbocharged engines from Lada buyers. The situation may change if the manufacturer starts producing cars that need more powerful engines. We are talking about the new Lada minivan. It is planned to be created in 2027.
In March last year, AvtoVAZ commented on the fate of the turbocharged engine developed several years ago. It turned out that the 1.4-liter unit with a capacity of 163 hp and a torque of 240 N·m has not yet been launched into mass production, despite its potential.
