The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes including automotive electronic components in the electronics marking experiment from the end of February 2025. It is planned to mark products such as tachometers, speedometers, odometers, and other devices related to car control systems.
Auto expert Maxim Kadakov noted that the idea of marking is usually explained by protecting consumers from fakes or low-quality products. However, the situation with automotive electronics is different.
According to the expert, factories purchase such components directly from trusted suppliers, where the risk of counterfeiting is extremely low. Moreover, producing low-quality parts for car factories means losses for the manufacturers themselves.
According to Kadakov, adding marking will increase the cost of goods. Each device will require additional identification, which means additional costs.
Position of CRPT
The press service of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), the operator of the "Honest Sign" marking system, commented on the situation in the electronics market. According to experts, the share of illegal trade in this segment is 20–25%.
The CRPT pointed out that counterfeit products harm not only end customers who purchase substandard goods, but also bona fide manufacturers. Developers of high-quality equipment face difficulties due to competition with cheap and unreliable counterfeits, which fail much faster. This problem is emphasized by the manufacturers themselves, pointing to the risks of purchasing low-quality materials for their products.
Electronics are classified as expensive goods. If in the case of counterfeit food products, buyers risk their health, then in the electronics segment, the main loss is wasted money. The introduction of a marking system is aimed at improving product quality, protecting business and ensuring the safety of consumers, including motorists, the CRPT emphasized.
