Novosibirsk plans to become a center for the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The city is creating a research and production center for the development of medium and heavy drones, which will be used in agriculture, logistics, construction, and government services.
The basis of the center will be the developments of Novosibirsk universities, such as NSTU, which is already developing electric motors and software for UAVs.
The regional budget for 2025 includes about a billion rubles for the development of this industry. The center will solve production problems, create regulations, and train personnel. NSTU has already created a laboratory for unmanned systems, and the first prototype aircraft "Sarma" is ready. It is planned to create a digital platform for testing aviation equipment with artificial intelligence.
Cooperation with the Siberian Research Institute of Aviation and the Siberian University of Telecommunications includes training specialists and introducing new technologies, such as 3D printing for creating UAV elements. Students participate in projects, conducting tests and developing new ideas.
