The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced preparations for new exercises by the Arctic Grouping of the Northern Fleet, created on the basis of ships from formations of the Kola Flotilla of mixed forces. The fourteenth Arctic exercise will ensure the safety of civil navigation along the Northern Sea Route.
The legends of the military exercises include practicing the actions of personnel in various circumstances, which will include:
- landing equipment and personnel on previously untested sections of the coast of Arctic islands and the continent;
- actions to assist a simulated vessel that has suffered an accident in the Arctic seas and rescue people on the water
- conducting inspection activities of suspicious vessels.
The Arctic campaign is scheduled for August 2025. It is noted that the detachment of warships will be supported by auxiliary fleet vessels and the emergency rescue detachment of the search and rescue operations management of the Northern Fleet.
