Суд обязал «Яндекс» скрыть информацию о НПЗ на картах из-за угрозы атак дронов

The court recognized that posting photos of an oil refinery could threaten security

A court in Moscow has for the first time ordered Yandex to remove information about an oil refinery (NPZ) from its maps due to the threat of attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The lawsuit concerned an oil refinery that was subjected to four UAV attacks in 2024. During the attacks, the plant's infrastructure was damaged, and employees of the enterprise were injured.

The prosecutor's office appealed to the court with a request to exclude access to photographs of the oil refinery. It is argued that this is necessary to ensure security and protect the country's defense capability.

The court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments, pointing out that publicly available information about the plant threatens the security and supply of materials necessary for the needs of the Russian army.

Yandex objected to the requirement, but the court ruled that the company must remove or retouch images of the oil refinery facilities in its mapping service within a month. The decision has not yet entered into force.
