The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has handed over the Arkhangelsk fourth-generation nuclear submarine cruiser of the Yasen-M project 885M to the Russian Navy. The solemn ceremony took place at the Sevmash enterprise.
"Arkhangelsk" became the 141st nuclear submarine built by the shipbuilders of "Sevmash". Andrey Puchkov, General Director of USC, noted that the completion of construction was the result of the painstaking work of shipbuilders, designers and engineers.
Thanks to such coordinated work, the serial construction of fourth-generation nuclear submarines is proceeding at a steady pace. We will continue to provide our naval forces with a powerful and modern fleet. We will do everything necessary for this.
The Arkhangelsk multi-purpose nuclear submarine cruiser is the third in the Yasen-M series. Nuclear submarines of this series embody unique, state-of-the-art Russian developments in the field of military weapons, electronic and technical systems, and main power plants. The cruiser's armament includes Onyx, Zircon and Caliber missiles, as well as 533 mm caliber torpedo tubes.
