The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has handed over the fourth-generation nuclear submarine cruiser "Arkhangelsk" of project 885M "Yasen-M" to the Russian Navy. The solemn ceremony took place at the "Sevmash" enterprise.
"Arkhangelsk" became the 141st nuclear submarine built by the shipbuilders of "Sevmash". The General Director of USC, Andrey Puchkov, noted that the completion of construction was the result of the painstaking work of shipbuilders, designers and engineers.
Thanks to such coordinated work, the serial construction of fourth-generation nuclear submarines is proceeding at a steady pace. We will continue to provide our naval forces with a powerful and modern fleet. We will do everything necessary for this.
The multi-purpose nuclear submarine cruiser "Arkhangelsk" is the third in the "Yasen-M" project series. SSNs of this series embody unique latest Russian developments in the field of military weapons, electronic and technical complexes, and main power plants. The cruiser's armament includes "Onyx", "Zircon" and "Kalibr" missiles, as well as 533 mm caliber torpedo tubes.
