Speed and Maneuverability Check: Trials of the "Velikiye Luki" Submarine Begin

Factory trials of the diesel-electric submarine "Velikiye Luki" (Project 677 "Lada") have begun in the Baltic Sea. They are being provided by the crews of the submarine "Mozhaisk", the small anti-submarine ship "Kazanets", and naval aviation of the Baltic Fleet, the USC press service reported.

In one of the Baltic Fleet's areas, the crew checked the submarine's maneuverability and speed. In addition, the sailors checked the hydroacoustic complex, navigation and communication systems, and tested the lifting and mast devices. During the trials, the submariners from "Velikiye Luki" used torpedo and mine weapons.

About the "Velikiye Luki" Submarine

The submarine was built at the "Admiralty Shipyards" according to the Rubin Central Design Bureau project. The submarine was laid down in November 2006 under the name "Sevastopol", and in March 2015 it received the name "Velikiye Luki". It is expected that the submarine will join the Baltic Fleet at the end of 2024. The submarine is equipped with "Kalibr" missiles, as well as MANPADS "Igla-1M", "Verba".
