Wet wipes are an effective protective component against certain types of radiation and are already used on the International Space Station (ISS). This was stated during a press conference by Oleg Orlov, Director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IMBP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to him, local remedies are also used to help protect critical organs, such as the brain.
Orlov also spoke about the prospects for flights to Mars. According to him, in principle, it is possible to send astronauts to Mars today, but such a flight would be the last in the astronaut's career.
Such a flight will be the limit in terms of the amount of radiation exposure allowed during an astronaut's career. Flew to Mars and the professional career is over.
Recall that in November 2024, Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov expressed confidence that the first manned flight to Mars will occur in the next 50 years. He called the body's capabilities in microgravity the main problem.
Note that American businessman Elon Musk claimed back in 2016 that humanity could go to Mars as early as 2022. In April 2024, Musk suggested that the first people on the Red Planet would be there within seven to nine years.
