Rostselmash has begun testing the first Russian automatic transmission (AT) called RSM PowerShift, designed for heavy tractors with engines ranging from 440 to 620 hp. This was reported by the company's press service.
The new gearbox is a clone of the Japanese Okubo Gear transmission, which was previously supplied to Rostselmash. In 2018, the companies agreed to localize the production of Japanese transmissions in Rostov, but until recently, Okubo Gear continued to supply about a hundred components for the automatic transmission. It is assumed that these parts have been replaced with domestic analogues.
The PowerShift 440–620 hp is not the only model of automatic transmissions from Rostselmash. Currently, engineers and designers are developing several more models for classic and articulated tractors of various power outputs from 170 to 600+ hp
RSM PowerShift includes 16 forward and 4 reverse gears, and also offers a manual gear shifting mode for operator convenience. In 2025, it is planned to test RSM PowerShift in real field conditions as part of the RSM 3002 4WD tractor, which will be an important step in assessing its performance and reliability.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Rostselmash 1370 tractor with a KAMAZ 689 engine and automatic transmission was presented at YugAgro-2024.
