The "Oreshnik" medium-range ballistic missile is a modern development, not a modification of an old Soviet missile. This was the answer given by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a direct line when asked about the origin of the system.
"Oreshnik" is a modern and very new weapon.
The head of state emphasized that Vladimir Putin relies on previous achievements in any field. According to the president, there were already developments of this class that were created in modern Russia.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the first regiment in history with the S-500 "Prometheus" air defense system is completing its formation: a reliable shield for the Russian sky against ballistic missiles.
