The danger of using T-62M tanks in assault operations is named: danger to the turret

At the same time, they are capable of hitting Leopard-2A4 in the daytime

T-62M medium tanks are increasingly being used in direct fire by direct fire at enemy strongholds, as well as in direct duels with combat vehicles. However, in assault operations, they should be used with extreme caution due to the weak protection of the frontal part of the turret, said military analyst Yevgeny Damantsev.

According to him, the 9M117M1-2 "Arkan" anti-tank missiles used from the 115-mm U-5TS guns of the T-62MV tanks will provide the ability to hit vehicles such as the Leopard-2A4 at a distance of 6 km during the daytime.

At night, the upgraded 1PN96MT-1 multi-channel sight with a target classification range of the "tank" type of about 2200 m also provides the T-62MV crew with the ability to conduct tank combat on mixed terrain.

But the preparation of vehicles for close tank duels and assault operations is alarming. After all, the equivalent resistance of the frontal armor plates of the turret against BOPS for the T-62MV is no more than 242 - 260 mm and 350 - 370  mm against cumulative projectiles, not to mention the lack of anti-tandem action in the 4S20 "Kontakt-1" elements.
