Прорыв в области радиофотоники: в Санкт-Петербурге создали первый массовый генератор

Scientists Managed to Ensure Clean Signal Transmission

At St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" (SPbGETU "LETI"), the first Russian optoelectronic generator of ultra-high frequency (UHF) signal was developed. This was announced by Alexey Ustinov, Head of the Laboratory of Magnonics and Radiophotonics, Professor of the Department of Physical Electronics and Technology of LETI.

Reducing noise is important, for example, in radar for receiving reflected signals from distant objects if the transmitter power cannot be increased. This was achieved through the use of a new, more efficient method of transmitting a radio signal over fiber optics, in which the radio signal transmission coefficient becomes positive.

Microwave generators are key elements of radar and communication systems. Their main task is to reduce the phase noise of the generated signal.

Scientists applied the principles of radiophotonics. This allowed achieving minimal noise levels and ensuring clean signal transmission. In the new system, the parameters of the laser, electro-optical modulator, and photodetector were optimized so that the output signal power exceeds the input power.

The new generator was created on the basis of Russian mass-produced components. Previously, such devices were developed only in laboratories. Now, more advanced signal generators will be able to be introduced into mass production.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Roselectronics is launching mass production of quartz generators.
