Sber Updated 99% of ATMs to Accept New 5,000 Ruble Banknote

Sberbank has completed the process of updating the software for 99% of its ATMs, allowing them to accept new 5,000 ruble banknotes. The Bank of Russia introduced the modernized banknote in October 2023.

In October 2023, the Bank of Russia issued an updated banknote with a face value of 5,000 rubles. From that moment on, new banknotes are gradually being introduced into circulation in various regions of Russia.

Currently, three types of 5,000 ruble banknotes can be found in circulation: the 1997 version, its 2010 modification, and the new 2023 version. They all have the same size and similar colors.

On the front side of the new five thousand ruble banknote, you can see a stele symbolizing the border between Europe and Asia. On the reverse side, there is a monument "The Tale of the Urals" in Chelyabinsk and the stele "66 Parallel" in Salekhard.

The main color of the banknote is red. On the front side, in the upper left part, the coat of arms of the Russian Federation is depicted.

On the reverse side, in the upper right part, the release date is indicated - "2023". In the lower right part of the front side there is a QR code that leads to the Bank of Russia website page with information about the protective elements of the banknote.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development, the Central Bank and law enforcement agencies presented a package of bills aimed at significantly reducing the risks of fraud. It includes about 30 different measures. Among them is the ability to remotely block the processing of loans and borrowings through the "Gosuslugi" portal or banking applications. To remove this restriction, a personal visit to a multifunctional center or bank will be required.
