Sberbank's biometric payment service "Pay with a Smile" is now available to all Russian citizens over 18, regardless of whether they are Sber customers, the bank's press service reported.
Previously, only Sberbank customers could use the service. Now, to connect, it is enough to log in via "Sber ID", select a bank card for payment, create a security code to confirm purchases, and provide biometric data.
To make a payment, you need to select "Pay with a Smile" on the payment terminal screen and look into the camera. At the same time, Sber customers will continue to receive "Spasibo" program bonuses, and customers of other banks will retain all the privileges of their financial institutions, including cashback.
The bank launched the "Pay with a Smile" service in the summer of 2023. Sber has already installed almost 1 million bio-terminals in stores, restaurants and other businesses. The bank plans that about 2 million terminals will be equipped with the technology next year.
