Updated footage has emerged of a selection of adjustable flat nozzles of the AL-51F1 2nd stage turbofan engine prototype for fifth-generation Su-57M fighters with an afterburner thrust of 18000 kgf and a maximum thrust of up to 11000 kgf.
The standard AL-41F1 turbofan engines have a maximum thrust of 8800 kg, lagging behind the American Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofan engines by only 16%, which have a thrust of 10500 kgf, and an afterburner thrust in emergency mode of up to 15000 kgf, lagging behind the Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 with an afterburner thrust of 15865 kgf by 6%.
Thus, in non-afterburning mode, the AL-51F1 will provide Su-57M fighters with a sharp increase in supersonic cruising speed to 1.9 - 2.1M. Currently, this figure reaches 1.6 - 1.7M.
